Restricting User Access in Multi-Tenant Business Central Environments

Issue:

Two sister companies using a multi-tenant Business Central setup want to restrict users in Company X from accessing or seeing environments for Company Y. The goal is to ensure complete isolation between the two companies.

Solution:

Using Entra ID Security Groups:

  1. Create Security Groups:

    • Create separate security groups in Entra ID for each company.
  2. Assign Users to Security Groups:

    • Add users from Company X to one security group and users from Company Y to another.
  3. Configure Business Central Admin Center:

    • Assign the appropriate security groups to each Business Central environment through the Business Central Admin Center.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage user access in a multi-tenant Business Central setup, ensuring complete isolation between companies.
