A Service Price Adjustment Group in Business Central is a configuration that lets you apply specific price adjustments to service items based on defined criteria. It provides a mechanism for applying uniform price changes across a range of services or items, without the need to adjust each service item or order manually.

How to Configure a Service Price Adjustment Group

Step 1: Locate the Feature

Start by using the Tell Me feature in Business Central. Click on the Lightbulb icon, type "Service Price Adjustment Groups", and select the related link that appears.

Step 2: Establish a New Group

Once you're in the right place, begin by creating a new group. Click 'New' and get ready to fill in the essential details.

Step 3: Define Group Attributes

You'll see fields requiring input:

  • Code: Assign a unique code for identification purposes.
  • Description: Provide a clear description of what this adjustment group will be for.

Step 4: Set Adjustment Specifics

Now comes the critical part:

  • Type: Specify what kind of entries you're looking to adjust (e.g., Freight, Labor, Parts).
  • No.: If you want the adjustment to apply to a specific entry only, enter that entry's number here. Leave it blank to have the adjustment apply to all entries of the selected type.
  • Work Type: If the adjustment should apply to services of a specific work type, enter it here. Otherwise, leaving it blank means the adjustment will not be work-type specific.
  • Gen. Prod. Posting Group: To apply the adjustment based on a general product posting group, input the relevant group code here.

Let's imagine you operate a logistics company, and you want to adjust the price of freight services due to a seasonal increase in fuel costs.

Here’s how you’d set it up:

  1. You create a new group with the code "FREIGHTSEASON21" and the description "Seasonal Freight Adjustment".
  2. In the 'Type' field, you choose 'Freight'.
  3. You leave the 'No.' field blank because you want this adjustment to apply to all freight services.
  4. Since this adjustment is not work-type specific, you skip the 'Work Type' field.
  5. In the 'Gen. Prod. Posting Group' field, you enter "LOGISTICS" to apply this to all services related to logistics.
