Ship-to Address
In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, when processing sales orders (SO), you have multiple options for defining the "Ship-to Address". These options are designed to offer flexibility depending on the sales scenario. Here's an explanation of the three options you might see:
Custom Address: This allows you to enter a shipping address manually. It's useful for one-off shipping addresses or when the order needs to be delivered to a location that is not typically used.
Default (Sell-to Address): This option sets the shipping address to the default address of the customer, which is the "Sell-to Address". It’s typically used for regular customers where the shipping address doesn’t change frequently.
Alternate Shipping Address: When customers have multiple shipping locations or need items to be shipped to a location other than their primary address, this option allows you to select from a list of predefined alternate addresses.
The screenshot indicates that the "Custom Address" is currently selected, with "Service Electronics Ltd." at "3000 Roosevelt Blvd." as the specified Ship-to Name and Address. If this is the address you need the items to be shipped to, then it is the correct option to use for this particular sales order.
